◆ A note from the founder
Somnus didn’t start as a startup idea. It started as a tool I built for one working hypnotherapist — so her clients could keep hearing her voice on the nights between their appointments.
What happened next surprised both of us. Her clients didn’t treat the sessions like an app. They treated them like her — because it was her voice, her pacing, her method, arriving on the exact night they needed it. And for the first time, her income wasn’t chained to her calendar.
That’s when I understood what we’d actually built: not software, but leverage — for a profession that has always deserved it and never had it. Hypnotists spend years mastering a craft that only pays one hour at a time. That always struck me as a broken deal.
The name carries the whole idea. Somnus is the Roman god of sleep — and in the old story, he sends his children, the Somnia, to visit sleeping mortals with dreams made just for them. Two thousand years later, that’s exactly what this machine does with your voice. And if you’re a trained hypnotist, you already heard the second layer: somnambulism — the deepest state in our craft, the one every practitioner guides toward. The name is the destination.
So we’re opening the same engine to the first 100 practices. The promises we make on the front page — your voice stays yours, your clients stay yours, no marketplace ever — aren’t marketing. They’re the terms I would demand if it were my voice and my clients.
If something on your mind isn’t answered on the site, write to me directly. I read everything.
